What Redline is

I was at Race Wars at the Buddh International Circuit. Some time later Ferrari ran an Esperienza at the same circuit, and I found out after it was over. Plenty of people who would have driven out for it never heard about it either.

That’s how it works in Delhi right now. Meets live in WhatsApp groups, track days in Instagram stories that disappear in a day, and the feed you scroll will show you a viral build from another country before it shows you the meet 8 km away. Redline puts all of it on one map.

• Spot cars with the in-app camera. The server works out how rare the car is and gives you points. See Spotting and Rarity, tiers and points.
• Scroll the feed of what people near you spotted, filtered by niche: JDM, German, Italian, Classic, Off-road and more.
• Open the car culture map to see where cars turn up across the city, and which meets and track days are coming. See The map.
• RSVP to events, like and comment, follow spotters, and confirm other people’s car IDs.
• Climb the Delhi NCR leaderboard every weekly season, and fill your logbook one make at a time.

Spots are posted from the Android app, because the camera and live GPS are what make a spot verified. The website has the feed and the map. You can like, comment, follow, RSVP and confirm IDs there. You can’t post from it.

There’s no iPhone app yet. On an iPhone, the feed and the map work in the browser.

Redline is an invite-only beta, built and run by a student in Delhi. Delhi NCR is the only city. Events are added by hand for now, and bikes and other cities come later (Coming later).

Some screenshots on the website use demo data: made-up spotters and organisers at real venues, with licensed photos. Demo accounts carry a Demo badge.
